Sea World tragedy sparks Twitter protest

A small but growing number of Twitter users have begun petitioning for the release of Tilikum, the killer whale at Sea World in Florida responsible for killing a trainer earlier this week.

The whale has been in captivity since being captured off the coast of Iceland in 1983 at the age of two.

Sea World has announced it will not release the whale, but some folks are not happy with that decision.

Forget Google, Twitter teams with Yahoo

As the rest of the world waited for Google to gobble Twitter, or Buzz it out of existence, Twitter was silently gearing up for its own big move. Today it announced it was teaming with Yahoo! and their 600 million users.
Big move.

It remains to be seen how that will affect Twitter and whether the combined efforts of both will be enough to stop Google Buzz from further gaining market share.

Why 'Buzz' when you can 'Tweet'

In its never-ending attempt to monopolize all things web-based, Google is making a play for the Twitter audience.
Last week they rolled out Google 'Buzz' and made public the Gmail users and the people they e-mail most. That's a bit of a privacy faux-paux.

They did eventually apologize for the error.

It remains to be seen why anyone needs yet-another micro-blogging site, or why Google feels it's necessary to link everything together under one big umbrella.

Personally, I like using different sites for different reasons. I always felt there was safety in spreading my usage around. That keeping all your informational eggs in one basket made it more likely that information could be inadvertently released.
Like Google just did with 'Buzz' for instance...

Google taking over the Social Media World?

For the time being Twitter is the only service of its kind. But Google is looking to change all that. And it could. More and more news agencies are turning to the micro-blogging site to break stories and promote their web pages. There is money to be had with Twitter and Google knows it. Likewise with Facebook and its millions upon millions of daily users who post every bit of information that comes their way. Google sees money there as well.
And I haven't even mentioned the money to be had in the tablet PC market with 'e-readers'.
Check out the things Google has planned.
