Leslie Nielsen is dead; don't call him Shirley
After a career in film and television that lasted six decades, consummate Canadian actor Leslie Nielsen has died. He was 84.
Friends, fans and family are mourning his passing today. Remembered as one of the greatest stars of screen and stage, Nielsen was a class act, all the way....

Black Friday shopping at Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart seems the place to be this Black Friday. What is considered by many to be the busiest shopping day of the year is all about savings, savings, savings. And it seems when consumers today are looking for savings, they push Wal-Mart to the top of the Twitter as the latest Trending Topic.

A new holiday: Thanksgiving Day Eve
It seems America has decided one Thanksgiving is not enough--they need to extend it by 50 percent.
Introducing Thanksgiving Eve. Where people gather on the Twitter and commiserate before they stuff themselves with turkey and pie and rest up for the next morning when they will be fighting for parking spaces and gasping for air in overcrowded malls and toy stores.

Tweeting the American Music Awards
Proving once again there is no limit to how much television can ruin a perfectly good song (hear me, ad people who keep putting "Hey Soul Sister" in commercials) the American Music Awards brought out the worst and not-quite-as-bad in live performances Sunday night.
Eminem was a big winner, snatching two AMA awards; and Taylor Swift stepped on stage with straight hair and a bang-up look that says, "hey, look at me-I'm all grown up now!"
I missed the live event on ABC, but I am getting my fill of reviews from the Twitter:

The Ghailani verdict and American justice:
Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, the first Gitmo detainee to be tried in civilian court, was cleared of 284 terror charges and convicted of one. He faces 20 years in prison.
People around the world are ardently debating the meaning of this conviction. Was it a miscarriage of justice or a just punishment? Was it a sign the civilian court system cannot handle these cases or a show of strength for the same?

Happy Birthday Omega Psi Phi!
Today marks the 89th anniversary of the first African-American national fraternal organization founded at a black college.
On Nov. 17, 1911, three Howard University juniors, Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman got together and created their own fraternal organization.
Nearly a century later the Omega Psi Phi chapter is still going strong.

Prince William to wed!
It is a fairy tale come true: Prince William will marry his long-time girlfriend, Kate Middleton.
Needless to say, so much for a quiet ceremony with just a few close friends. These two will likely have a wedding something on the order of the Prince Charles and Lady Diana extravaganza in 1981.
The gossip has been flying about William and Kate's on-again, off-again relationship for the past few years. Now that they have announced their intention to wed, the gossip level is off the charts.

America Recycles Day
Celebrate America Recycles Day by recycling some old aluminum cans or paper bags or by deciding recycling is really just another attempt by the liberal media to thwart America's efforts at world domination.
