Cooks Source stole from everyone?

There is a wild fire of speculation, intrigue, innuendo and downright truths floating about the cooking magazine Cooks Source. Seems they took a previously published story from a young writer, did a bit of editing and republished it as their original work. When the writer complained, they got snippy.

My question: Does that mean anyone who prepared one of their recipes is liable to be sued by the original source holder for illegal exchanged of copyrighted material? Because that's what the RIAA does to file sharers....
