New Twitter? Or New Coke redux?

Many of us remember new Coke. For those who don't here's the gist: Coke discontinued "Coca-Cola" and instead released a new formula for its globally popular soft drink, called "New Coke."
Not only did New Coke taste terrible, the whole idea of alienating millions upon millions of existing customers created a public relations nightmare for the company...

Building on this legacy, Twitter is slowly releasing, New Twitter.
It remains to be seen exactly what users think of the service because Twitter is rolling it very, very gradually...very.gradually.

Apparently some parents are upset that pop singer Katy Perry appeared on Sesame Street wearing what amounted to a figure skaters outfit. It was part of a skit with Elmo where the to of the sang about play. Despite the uproar over Perry's outfit, parents failed to mention that Elmo is always completely naked....

'Mouseover' flaw causes near Twitter-Panic! (Not really)

So, Twitter had this little flaw wherein, if you hover your cursor over a link in the stream (called by some a "mouseover") the link opened into a preview box. If the link led to pornography (which was bound to happen) you saw--pornography.

Needless to say, for some this was the apocalypse. For me, I just ignore what I don't have an interest in. I don't immediately fixate on everything that pops-open on my computer screen because pornography or not, 90 percent of what the Internet wants to show me I don't care about.
If more people did that they wouldn't be so hung up on this little flaw which has already been fixed....(I'm talking to you, @mashable)

Those of us old enough to remember New Coke remember what a fiasco that was. It still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended.
Twitter announced it is releasing "New Twitter" to much the same acclaim and fanfare as when Coke released New Coke. But let's hope the improvements are slightly more palatable.
"New Twitter" is already a Trending Topic as users try to deduce what they can from press releases and anxiously await changes to their much beloved micro-blogging platform.

Google Instant the talk of Twitter

The release of Google Instant Search yesterday has the Twitter world buzzing. Most likely because Twitter is overrun with SEO marketers who seem to believe Google Instant Search will kill their industry. This would seem likely as Google Instant Search makes decisions about what you are looking for by creating it's own alphabet.
Type and "a" and you get "Amazon" type an "r" and your get "Realtor" and so on and so forth. Of course you don't need to enter just a single letter if you are searching for something specific, or if you are conducting a boolean search.
But for basic searches, people just looking for one simple thing yet are too lazy to just type "www.amazon.com" in their search bar, Google Instant Search will do the job for them.

Whether you are celebrating Eid or Rosh Hashanah, no doubt millions of others on Twitter are celebrating with you.
Twitter has become the Great Melting Pot of the Internet. People of different faiths and beliefs; nationalities and cultures; ages, genders and assorted demographics, gather on the micro-blogging site every day to share stories, wishes, dreams; complaints about their jobs, spouses, neighbors and everyday lives.
And they share good wishes as well. That is what makes Twitter great, in my opinion. Everyone is represented. And when left to their own devices, generally speaking of course, they are pretty nice to one another.....
